How to install Deny Hosts on Fedora 8:<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n


\n<\/span><\/h1>\n

1)  yum list denyhosts<\/span><\/h2>\n

2)  yum install packages listed (in this case it was: yum install denyhosts.noarch)<\/span><\/h2>\n

3) <\/span>chkconfig denyhosts on (set it to start on boot. Same as putting a check in Webmin>System>Boot )<\/span><\/h2>\n

4) \/etc\/init.d\/denyhosts start (this will start it up)<\/span><\/h2>\n

5)  use ps -A | grep deny to make sure its loaded<\/span><\/h2>\n

6) Config file is in \/etc\/denyhosts.conf if you want to have a look at it<\/span><\/h2>\n

7) Hosts that it blocks will be in \/etc\/hosts.deny<\/span><\/h2>\n

8) cat \/etc\/hosts.deny | grep ^ssh | wc -l <\/span>Will let you know how many sites have been blocked<\/span><\/h2>\n

1) go here .. http:\/\/www.susegeek.com\/security\/denyhosts-to-secure-from-ssh-brut-force-attacks\/

2) click on the appropriate ymp file<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

3) open said file in Yast2<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

4) accept the addition of opensuse repository<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

5) install denyhosts thru Yast2<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

6) chkconfig denyhosts will test if its started<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n
